News Paper Article:

Summary:
Red Bull Air Race
Although the proposal was rejected at first, the Red Bull air race was held at the Detroit River front in 2008 attracting thousands of spectators. This was thanks to Mayor Eddie Francis who travelled to London England last year to convince Red Bull to return once again. This year the air race was held by Windsor alone, rather then both sides of the river. Windsor’s Minister of finance, Dwight Duncan, promised $3.2 million to those who sponsored the event. Without his involvement there would have been no air race. The hard work that Duncan put fourth opened up many financial opportunities for Windsor. In 2007 with both sides of the river, there was more than $40 million made. However, last year everything was up to Windsor and the result was assumed to be $60 to $70 million benefiting more then just Windsor, but all of the greater Essex County. Aside from money, there is also the publicity that Windsor will receive from this, making people from all over want to visit. The red Bull air race was televised in more than 115 countries and viewed by 500 million worldwide. With all of the publicity people may decide to vacation in Windsor, assisting the city financially in the long run. Above all, the air race was thanks to Red Bull, without them these opportunities would not have been accessible.

Questions:
Anthropology
1. Do you believe there will ever be an end to the advancement of artificial inventions?
Explanation: With all of the advancements in technology, it has been slowly ruining our environment. It can be interpreted that the air race is an example of that. With new jets and different types of airplanes, it can make for a more exciting show, but the case isn’t the same for the environment.
2. Why do people want to watch an airplane race? How does this event affect the lives of people?
Explanation: With the busy lifestyle, it may be unreasonable for someone to take such vital time from their lives to watch an air race. This may be an unsuitable option for a busy family. With the commotion in the city with tourists and the excitement all together, people may feel uneasy about the disruption in their lives because it is not a normal event to them.
Psychology
1. How did the thought of an economic boost from the air race make you feel?
Explanation: With all of the depression going on in Windsor’s economy, thought of relief may give people hope. With hope, comes perseverance which would aid the economy even more so.
2. Was the view of the race believable? Did it seem overly optimistic?
Explanation: Throughout the article references were made to how much the race would benefit the city, although this would be very great the outcome, what they imagined seemed very hopeful. This would be a very big plus for Windsor; however it may raise the hopes of residents and if things were to end badly, they may not be so trusting in the future.
Sociology
1. How did the makers of Red Bull decide that an air race would be a good way to promote their product?
Explanation: There are so many promotions that companies have to now go to so many lengths to get their product on top. The air race gives Red Bull such a good name. This shows how much development there has been in our society in the way that we can take airplanes and race them to promote something as small as a beverage.
2. “Money makes the world go round.” How is this statement true in relation to the air race held in Windsor?
Explanation: The main topic of the article was the cost and the profit from the air race. It spoke of the economy and how much this event would help in raising it. This shows how our society works, and how dependant we are on money.

Paragraph:
In conclusion the Red Bull air race had so much positive publicity and was told to help out economy a great deal. Although it may be a great contribution for the economy, it isn’t for the environment. The air race was also very dependant on the pace of the lifestyle of Windsor residents. This event, on a smaller scale portrays all three of the major fields of social sciences. When looking at anthropology it is clear that the human species has developed a great deal, from racing each other to racing planes in the sky. It shows the way we live and the traditions we have not only in culture but as a community. When looking at Sociology it shows more specifically how we have developed as a society and how we strive to make things work in our favor. And finally when looking at Psychology we are able to piece the feelings of each individual together to create an opinion on behalf of a whole community. This is how the three major social sciences apply to the Red Bull air race.

She asked: Am i pretty?
He said: No
She asked: Do you like me?
He said: No
She asked: Do you want me?
He said: No

She walked away with tears in her eyes.
He grabbed her by the arm and said:
You aren't pretty, you're beautiful...
I don't like you, I love you...
and I don't want you, I need you.

Sub depression

Today was a day where everything was just ... weird. I had a calculus test but I think it went ok. Then I had a functions test, but that definitely wasn't ok. x=root3 that doesn't make sense?

Then I had a ganglion cyst in my wrist that popped. I can't even move my hand.. my left hand anyway..... There goes my left handed dream. It was weird becuase I usually try to ignore my left hand because of that time I realized I was unable to write with my left hand. So you think that all is well... when someone comes up to you with God's Gift, the ability to write with their left hand... and they just missuse it ALL over the place.

That LeftHander was a poser and they had the pen all up in their right hand, so when I asked, "hey.. arn't you a lefty.." they just igorned and moved on... trying to make me go into my sub-depression-BUT LET ME TELL YOU, that so would not be able to do BECAUSE ignoring is fuel to my curiosity.

Really.. All I'm trying to say is: If I was a lefty YOUD NEVER SEE A PEN IN MY RIGHT HAND!

I put announcments in at school in song form and I really don't think that anyone liked them... I got a lot of hatin on it so that wasn't cool....

I am on a commity for All Night Dance-Security and my group has been taken over by this crazy boy who is bossy and I JUST WANT TO DO EVERYTHING!!!
I can't wait until the AllNIGHTDANCE(L)
